God’s Sightlines – October 2026

When Lea has a little downtime, she enjoys watching home renovation shows. One word that seems to come up repeatedly is “sightlines.” Every now and then, I find myself getting dragged into the renovation drama, too.

Yes, most of those shows are well-staged (i.e., there’s little reality to them), but sightlines are real. Everyone wants to see what’s happening at home without moving from room to room.

With sightlines in mind, how can we apply this concept to our lives beyond our living spaces? Jesus taught in Luke 11:29–36 about keeping our spiritual vision clear. What we allow into our spiritual sightlines can either enlighten or darken our view.

“Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness.” Luke 11:35 (ESV)

Church planting news

Our 25th church was recently planted in Malawi in an area called Kasungu. The local congregation has been busy preparing a space for church meetings, as they live in a rural area where renting a facility isn’t easily possible.

Pastor Wilson, who oversees the work in Malawi, has been training local leaders to take on greater responsibility. Please pray that as he and his team work with this new church plant, those identified for leadership will continue to grow in spiritual strength.

We have learned that church planting requires keeping our eyes clear and God’s sightlines in view. Wherever people receive Jesus, there is an opportunity to plant a church.

Returning home

On Wednesday, October 7, we returned home from our travels in the USA. This was the longest trip we have taken in many years. It was a joy and privilege to spend time with our family, friends, and partners. Thank you for your encouragement, support, prayers, and hospitality throughout our time with you.

More updates & prayer requests

We are keeping our eyes focused on the Vision Training Center project, trusting God as we move forward. While we haven’t been given a deadline to purchase the property, we know it will not be held indefinitely. Please keep the switch of faith turned on with us as we believe God for the provision needed to purchase the property and take this next step in our journey.

Since our return, we have encountered a complication with Andreya’s study permit to attend university here in South Africa. We are working to resolve the issues that have been raised and ask you to join us in prayer for a quick approval of her permit, which is required for her to remain here and study.

We need to keep God’s sightlines in view, especially as we face these giants. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support,

Jamie, Lea, and Andreya
